3M 20324 Review 2017
This 3M 20324 orbital sander came out number 2 on our list of pneumatic sanders. The 3M 20324 model gets some pretty rave reviews. Like the first one on the list this is a non-vacuum type.
It does a really super job on any type of sanding or finishing application. Again like the first one this is powered by air, so you will need some sort of compressor to operate this one. A quick summary is as follows
This great sander is very quiet and can handle heavy workloads all day long. It easily removes wood and finishes on vehicles much faster than any other that I know of
The sander is designed to be used as a hand held tool which is powered by air. The compressor needed to operate this should have as a minimum the following characteristics:
- Airflow Rate: – 27 cubic feet per minute (480 liters per minute)
- 90 pounds per square inch
- It is a 6″ random orbital sander so a good coverage area.
- Comes with one disk pad to get you started.
- Weighs 3.25 pounds
- Maximum RPM is 12,000
The 3M Company
This company have been around for just over 100 years and they make high quality products. They are based in Minnesota and serve both the commercial and residential markets. A lot of contractors buy their abrasive products.
The Main Review of the 3M – 20324
If you want a high class finish that is swirl free, then owning a sander like this one is most likely what you need. As long as you have some method of powering this up with a compressor, then this is a very good one to pick.
It is an expensive pick but the reviews that I have read on this are just all 5 stars. It is hard to argue with that.

Comfort & Control
If you are going to be using this type of sander for any length of time, then you want something that is low in vibration. This one has little or no vibrations when in use, and also has what is called a low profile base.
That simply means that when in contact with a surface, there is no high elements on the sander, that usually causes a little shaking.
It also has multiple grips so you can select which one suits your hand size to get even more comfortable. It is a small thing but a very important element.
There is no vacuum on this so dust control is poor and as such should ideally be used outside or in a workshop.
This size is ideal for when you need a bigger coverage and for abrasive sanding. It gets the job done quicker and faster and for someone working on a job, that is very important.
This model does come with one pad, a wrench, and a small sample of tool lubricant.
