Bosch CO18 Twist Drill Bit Set Review 2017

bosch co18 drill bit setBosch have released this 18-piece twist drill bit set, which we thought here at Tool And Go, was a very good offer. We thought that you should know about this one, if you are looking for some new drill bits.

Please note that this set is difficult to find online. It has been replaced with the more popular Bosch MS4091 drill and drive set.

However you may be able to find this one in some tool stores. For just under $40, you are getting 18 cobalt bits, which are high quality, and a good addition to your tool kit. I am not a huge fan of buying these types of sets as I find that manufacturers include bit sizes that will hardly ever be used.

I also think as a general rule, that they do tend to be generally lower quality. I have only included this one, as I was given this as a gift, and was quite surprised by the quality. That is why I am happy to recommend this particular product.

Main Features of the CO18 Set

Here is a list of the bits that you get inside a case:

  • 1/16-inch bit (2)
  • 5/64-inch bit (2)
  • 3/32-inch bit
  • 7/64-inch bit (2)
  • 1/8-inch bit (2)
  • 9/64-inch bit
  • 5/32-inch bit
  • 11/64-inch bit
  • 3/16-inch bit
  • 7/32-inch bit
  • 1/4-inch bit
  • 5/16-inch bit
  • 3/8-inch bit
  • 1/2-inch bit
  • plastic case

That is a nice range, and with the most popular sizes you get a couple of each. They can resist heat up to very high temperatures, and that means they are great for drilling through very hard surfaces, such as cast iron, titanium and stainless steel.

They are not masonry drills so no good for drilling through concrete. They will drill through metal and can also be used to drill wood. What we liked about these was they drill very fast. There is no waiting around with these, as they seem to get through metals with some ease. Other reviewers at Amazon agree with quotes like these.

Cut through steel fast By Joseph H. Francis on December 7, 2009 These bits are fantastic. I used one 3/8 inch bit to cut 24 holes in 3/16 steel almost like it was wood — very fast. No sign of dulling. Excellent bits, but one small one was missing.

There are more reviews similar to this one, though no-one else appeared to have any bits missing.

Overall they get a rating of 90% satisfaction which is very good. We liked these when we used them, and in terms of drilling through metal, they really did make short work of doing just that. We have said it many times here that buying cheap drill bits is something we are all probably guilty of.

We have all done it here in the past, and basically through our money away. We would always recommend investing a few extra dollars in better quality, which not only get the job done quicker, but last a great deal longer. These Bosch drills clearly fit in that bracket and will give you a good service at a very good price. There are plenty out there that don’t, but I find this one to be of good quality.
