Makita LS1016L Miter Saw Review 2017
The LS1016L from the Makita brand is another popular choice for many people. In this article we do a review of this very popular miter saw.
Makita was founded in 1915 so have been around now for just over 100 years. In that long period of time Makita are known as a leading designer, manufacturer and distributor of a comprehensive line of great quality and affordable value power tools.
In this article we have done a full review of the Makita LS1016L model.
This is by no means a cheap saw and it will cost around $475 to own one of these. It is not a saw you should buy lightly, as that is a pretty big investment for the huge majority of people.
It is a good one though and very high quality. It also has all the bells and whistles.
Key Benefits of Owning This Makita Miter Saw
If you want to do a project around the home, or maybe have some half finished projects to get completed, then having a miter saw will almost certainly help with those. What is great about this one in particular, is that this saw has been designed to be portable.
In other words you bring the saw to the work, and not not the work to the saw. If you have ever had to trudge in an out of a garage, basement or workshop because your tools are set up there, then you will know exactly what I mean.
One buyer had this to say:
I love my Makita LS1016L. I do flooring for a living and this is just what I need. Heavy enough, and great for the cuts I do. Love the fact I can switch different degrees of angles easily. I can go and on. Bottom line: Love my Makita LS1016L
There are over 150 buyer reviews at Amazon, and overall they rate this beast of a saw at 4.3 out of 5 stars. That is a nice solid rating when compared to many other saws on the market right now.
The good news about owning a saw like this, is that it can handle just about any type of project around the home. That is thanks to having both retractable rear and side guards. One buyer had this to say about his purchase and how it helped him
“The new LS1016L overcomes all of the old LS1013s short comings. I think it is the best by far or any miter saw I’ve ever owned. It does everything well.”
The motor in this saw is a 15 Ampere direct drive which can deliver a full 3,200 RPM. That is as good as any other on the market right now.
Anyone who uses a saw on a regular basis understands that the one thing you need, especially for hardwood, is enough power so as the saw does not labour.
This Makita has that in abundance.
Cutting Capability & Accuracy
One buyer described it as:
“The saw was dead on for 90 and 45 degrees out of the box. I have since cut numerous 8/4 hard maple boards up to 11+ inches and the saw had plenty of power and the blade that came with the saw cut perfectly. I couldn’t be happier.”
This model has a number of things going for it. It uses a steel rail sliding system, so that is tough, but more importantly helps ensure that all the cuts are deadly accurate.
It also has a retractable guard system made for increased vertical cutting capacity.
For users that means that it can cut crown molding and baseboards. That makes it very useful in my opinion
Built to Last
This is a good brand and they do build their tools to last. You don’t get 4.5 stars out of 5 if your product does not endure.

What Buyers Liked
Overall the reviews were very good. In particular many mentioned the following things that they liked about their purchase;

What Buyers Didn’t Like

Our Final Thoughts
Overall the The Makita LS1016L 10 Inch Dual Slide Compound Miter Saw, is a good quality product and has a nice solid rating.
It is expensive and we would only recommend this one to those who need a serious saw to do a large amount of work.
