Detailed Review of the PC600JS

This one came out at number three on our top 10 list, and could easily have rated as the highest on that list. Very little separated the top three, and this saw is as good as anything else out there at the minute. It is a well made saw, from a very good brand, is fairly priced and has all the right features. Let’s have a look at those in more detail.

The Motor

Any jigsaw is only as good as the motor that powers it up. This one is a heavy duty 6.0 Ampere motor and it is that sort of power you need, especially for cutting through the tougher hardwood.

Variable Speeds

This one has a good range of variable speeds ranging from 0-3,200 strokes per minute. The reason that you need different speeds is to get through different materials. Materials like metal and wood need to be cut at different speeds. This saw is ideal for cutting materials like plywood, soft wood and hardwood. It can also be used for scroll work, making shelving, as well as for cutting designs such as sink cut outs, in kitchen work tops.

This one has a 7-position wheel for easy and fast changes of speed.

Bevel Adjustments

There will be times when you may need to make angled or bevel cuts. This is done by adjusting the base. This one can handle adjustments of 0, 15, 30 and 45 degrees. This can easily be done on this saw without the need for any tools.

Ease of Use

There are some features that help make the user experience a lot better. The soft grip handle and front grip area have been very well designed. They help offer more control and comfort during use. In addition to that there is also a lock-on button which means that you can keep the saw switched on, when doing longer cuts.

The lock-on button helps you control the jig saw during prolonged use. Other features include keyless blade change, an LED light for improved visibility on the cutting surface, and a six-foot-long, high-grade cord.

Blade changing is easy and does not require any tools.

There is also a very good LED light for improved visibility on the cutting surface

Warranty

This tool is covered by a three-year limited warranty. This warranty covers any defects due to faulty materials or workmanship. In addition to that there is also a 1-year free service contract. This will help you be able to maintain the tool and replace worn parts caused by normal use.

Summary & My Thoughts

I have used this saw myself and it feels well balanced and certainly cuts very well. This is a good brand and this model is just so much better than many of the other ones that are out there. Yes you do pay a little more than the cheaper brands, but you get that back in a much better quality.

It is high on my list of very good jigsaws, so anyone who buys this one will not be disappointed in anyway. Everything is easy to adjust on this saw and blade changing is a breeze. This is just one of those tools that allows you to get on with doing the work, instead of having to figure out the tool itself.

Just remember to use good blades and change them regularly, and if you do that, then this Port Cable will last you for many years to come. The warranty and service with this is as good as it gets.
