Hitachi C10FCE2 Miter Saw Review

By  Enda McLarnon

The Hitachi C10FCE2 is one of the best selling miter saws on the market right now. This is because of its affordable price and the fact, that it does what you would expect of a good quality saw. With hundreds of buyer reviews rating it at around 90% satisfaction levels, you start to realise that this is really good value for money.

A Little About the Hitachi Brand

The company and brand Hitachi was founded in 1948. They started producing power tools in 1980. Since then they have built a solid reputation for making good quality power tools.

There is a 30 Day satisfaction guarantee even if you are not pleased and it also comes with a 1-year warranty. This is a corded miter saw and is portable as it weighs 26.3 pounds. So if you are looking for nice accurate miter joints, then this machine will certainly do that job for you.

While professionals and contractors will more likely use a product like the Dewalt 715, this one is better suited to people who do a lot of projects around the home. It is also a great choice for trim carpenters, framers and  general woodworkers.

Here is a short introduction to what this Hitachi model can do.

Its tungsten carbide 10″ blade can get through most materials including:

  • Wood and plywood
  • Decorative Panels
  • Fiber board
  • Hard board and
  • Aluminium sashes

This of course makes it ideal for framers, carpenters, wood workers and most home projects. I have included a video below that will take you through the main features of this best selling miter saw.

This one does sell a lot and that is down to a combination of two main things, which are high quality and a sensible affordable price. A reviewer said this about the saw,

“I did half the house in laminate before buying this thing and it took forever. I pretty much gave up on finishing the house and decided to invest in a better saw. It is worth every penny.”

Main Features Of The Hitachi C10FCE2

  • You can do miter cuts between zero and 52 degrees and bevel edges of 45 degrees to the left. There is a generous extended flip fence which raises to 4″ to allow for cutting of pieces up to 2 and 5/16″ high and 5 21/21″ deep.
  • There is a 15 amp motor on this which delivers a no load speed of up to 5,000 rpm. This does make cross cutting and miters a pretty easy thing to do.
  • It measures 40 x 22 x 22 inches and weighs around 75 pounds
  • Has an electric brake

What’s In The Actual Box?

  • The Compound Miter Saw
  • 10″ TCT saw blade
  • Extended Fence
  • Dust bag
  • Vise Assembly
  • Box Wrench
  • Hex Bar Wrench

When you get these the assembly can be done in 5-10 minutes. What I noticed with this one right out of the box was that there was very little vibration and the horizontal handle is a really great feature. I did go to the trouble of checking the angles of the miter and have to say they were spot on.

Personal Review

Hitachi C10FCE2 15-Amp 10-inch Single Bevel Compound Miter SawI also ran the saw through a 2 by 4 piece of pine which it did with ease. I was doing some fencing at the time so was also able to check a 4 by 4 post, which it did in its stride. I was impressed with this machine and especially at this price.

My son now uses this one when he is out on decking jobs. He has said to me a few times that it is the quietest saw he has ever used. He did also mention that there is no vibration when using this one.

There is more than enough power from the 15 amp motor and I used this to cut 4 x 4 posts which it did easily. I also ran some mahogany through this and it handled the hard wood pretty easily.

The cutting action is both quick and clean and I do have to say, it does appear to handle any wood that I used. With some other miter saws I have noticed some slight jamming or stuttering, but there was no sign of that when I used this one.

If I had to moan about anything the dust bag is useless. Now that said, I have yet to find a saw with an actual dust bag that is of any use. So this is more a general criticism of miter saws than of this one in particular.

There is a built-in carrying handle on this, and along with the light weight, this is actually a saw that you won’t mind hauling around with you. Like you I have had other ones that you need a weight lifting course to be able to lift them.

Overall though I found this Hitachi C10FCE2 miter saw to be a good quality professional product at a very affordable price. The reviews that I read by other users would support this overall opinion.

If this one is not for you, then please feel free to check out some other miter saw reviews which I have written.
