Husqvarna 450 Chainsaw Review

By  Enda McLarnon

The Husqvarna 450 is not the cheapest option as a gas powered chainsaw but it does get the highest rating according to actual buyers over at Amazon. The average price is around $350 and the ratings are high at 4.3 out of 5 stars, given to it by around 400 actual buyer reviews.

Let’s start with a 2.5 minute video review of the saw in action.

So as you can see it works pretty well and the advice given is to keep your chain sharp. I have also included another one here that shows the guy setting it up.

Key Features of the 450

  • It is an 18″ saw
  • 3.2 HP engine
  • CARB compliant

This saw is designed for those of us who need a chainsaw do get some things done around the home and the yard. It isn’t a professional saw, but is good enough for getting most jobs done. If like me you need to take care of some trees, or chop up some lumber from time to time, or clear up after storm damage then this is a decent choice.

It starts easy if properly primed and meets all of the main regulations. The engine has been built to last and I like it a lot. The air cleaning system is also good. It is also well designed and has a nice balance to it. The Husky 450 is just a good all round chainsaw.

What Buyers Liked

  • Good medium sized chainsaw for home use
  • Quiet and powerful enough
  • Cuts like a dream
  • Easy to start (read the manual is our advice for simple starting)

What Buyers Didn’t Like

  • A few buyers said that the chain was hard to replace
  • Some were disappointed with the customer service

Summary & Conclusion

When you look around at what is available on the market then Husky and Stihl do seem to lead the way when it comes to making good chainsaws. As a home owner some of us will every now and then be able to make good use of a chainsaw. You can buy those as cordless, electric or like this one as a gas powered one.

When you check out all of the reviews the Husky does come up as number one time after time. When you check those out then the 440 and the 450 come up all of the time. The 450 gets a slightly higher rating than the 440.

Overall most buyers are very happy with their purchase and give this product a high rating. The complaints seem to be about chain replacement and poor customer service. That majority though seem happy enough. At the end of the day this is the highest rated one on the market today, and that is about as good as it gets.
