Rockwell RC3748 Jigsaw Review

By  Enda McLarnon

At under $50 the Rockwell RC3748 is a jigsaw according to the buyers, that does not get the highest of ratings. That is according to those who have made their purchase over at Amazon.

Personally I don’t like the look (appearance) of this one, but some people do. At the end of the day, that is all that really matters.

There is no doubt that as a jigsaw, at this price, it is certainly good value for money. I guess I just like my tools to look a different colour, and have much better ratings than 3.4 out of 5 stars. Anyway enough of my own preferences and on to the main review.

Key Benefits of the Rockwell RC3748

Here is a quick at a glance top benefits for this saw.

  • It has variable speed settings
  • It has 4 orbital blade settings
  • You can adjust the base and this allows for bevel cuts
  • It does have a pretty cool blower function that keeps the cutting line clear of debris
  • A strong LED light that brightens the work area and helps you see the cut line

The benefits I have shown above are pretty much all you will ever need from any jigsaw. It weighs just underĀ 4 pounds so is light enough not to cause any danger of arm fatigue.

The Blower Function

This is something a little different in a jigsaw. We all know that sawdust can build up along the cutting line and you may even have to stop and blow away the dust. This saw has this neat little blowing function that keeps the cutting line clear of dust.

When that is used along with the LED light, then it combines to make sure you can cut along the line without being distracted.

You use a hex key to change the blades and this one comes with three blades anyway. It will cut most materials as long as you use the right blade, and blade changing is pretty simple.

Who Would Buy This RC3748 Jigsaw?

This one has a pretty high specification and it is a powerful saw as well. It is a solid and robust saw that will last for a long time. That makes it ideal for anyone who will regularly need to do jobs around the home. I could also see contractors using this one as a good all-purpose jigsaw.

Many reviewers said that this one cuts through wood like butter. That is of course down to a nice sawing action, a sharp blade and a powerful motor.

The variable speed is good and can be set from dead slow to fast. That makes it ideal for cutting through different types of materials. It is also useful when starting off any cut.

Most of all we think that this one is affordable and will do a decent job, without being exceptional. It isn’t however one that we would recommend based on buyer reviews. There are many better options which you can check out on out top 10 list of jigsaws.
If you just want a low budget jigsaw, then this one ticks that box.
